About Scobax
Scobax, Reaction, designed by Aaron Acevedo first released in februari 2010 in the set Heirs to the Blood.
Scobax is most useful in a defensive deck that expects to block actions—especially a deck with vampires or other minions that can use its [str] option to reduce an acting minion’s stealth, or its [STR] option to force an action to fail unless the actor pays blood or life. It can also shave one point off a bleed when you cannot block, but that effect is modest. Whether it is worth playing depends on your deck: it costs no blood and offers flexible defense, but is a reaction that does not itself provide a block, and its stronger effects require the relevant strength discipline; decks already using reliable stealth reduction or action-canceling reactions will usually prefer those more dependable tools. Consider Scobax as a low-cost filler when you need extra defensive options and can exploit its discipline text, rather than as a staple; without those synergies, it is unlikely to outperform more reliable reactions such as Eyes of Argus for blocking or Deflection for handling bleeds.
