About Lapse
Lapse, Combat, designed by Leif Jones first released in december 2001 in the set Bloodlines and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Lapse is mainly useful in a dedicated Temporis combat deck, where the inferior effect prevents the opposing minion from maneuvering and the superior effect shuts down an initial strike, while Potence vampires can gain meaningful value from its strength bonus; however, paying 2 blood for a temporary and conditional effect is a significant drawback. In most Potence combat decks, Torn Signpost is generally better for increasing strength, and Immortal Grapple is usually better for controlling the opposing minion’s strike options at a lower cost; dedicated Temporis decks may prefer Lapse because it combines maneuver denial with initial-strike protection, but even there it competes with more efficient combat cards and should usually be treated as a niche one- or two-copy option rather than a staple. It should see play only in a focused Temporis combat strategy or a metagame where initial strikes and maneuver-heavy combat are common; otherwise, its cost and limited timing make it too ineffici
