About Grasp of the Python
Grasp of the Python, Combat, designed by James Stowe first released in februari 2005 in the set Kindred Most Wanted and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
Grasp of the Python is best in a Serpentis-based combat deck—particularly a Followers of Set/Ministry deck that already fights at close range with hand strikes and wants to shut down opposing ranged or weapon-based combat for the following round—but its inferior version is merely a hand strike with a press and provides no damage, making it weak outside a dedicated combat package. Its closest and generally better alternative is **Immortal Grapple**, which has the same effect through Potence and is usually easier to exploit in dedicated hand-combat decks because Potence offers substantial damage boosts; cards such as **Disarm**, **Taste of Vitae**, or additional strike-modifier packages may also provide more impact depending on the deck’s plan. Grasp of the Python should see play only when the deck has reliable superior Serpentis, meaningful hand-strike damage, and a strong reason to prevent ranged strikes; otherwise, it is too narrow and should usually be omitted.
