About Maabara
Maabara, Master, designed by Eric Lofgren first released in November 2005 in the set Legacies of Blood.
Maabara is most useful in slow, recursion-oriented Harbinger of Skulls decks—especially toolbox, wall, or grindy combat builds that expect important library cards to reach the ash heap and want to reuse a key master, reaction, combat, or event later; it is particularly attractive when a single card is worth replaying several times, although the delayed, telegraphed retrieval, unique-location slot, and vulnerability to any vampire’s `D` action make it fairly low-impact in faster decks. In most cases, `Sudario Refraction` is better because it can recover a card directly to your hand rather than merely placing it on top of your library, giving immediate access and avoiding an extra draw delay; generic card-selection and recursion options such as `The Barrens`, `Anarch Troublemaker`, or simply playing more copies are also usually more reliable. Maabara should therefore see play only in a dedicated Harbinger recursion or attrition deck with strong protection and enough card-flow to exploit
