About Aura Reading
Aura Reading, Combat, designed by Harold Arthur McNeill, Leif Jones first released in August 1994 in the set Jyhad and was printed exactly in 6 different ways.
Aura Reading is most useful in a dedicated Auspex combat or defensive Auspex deck, especially one built around vampires such as Arika, Unmada, or The Unmasking-style intercept packages that can exploit information about the opposing combat hand before choosing range; seeing the opponent’s hand can reveal maneuvers, presses, strike redirection, prevention, or combat-ending cards. However, the card is generally too situational for regular play: the inferior effect provides information but no immediate combat advantage, while the superior effect’s temporary +2 hand size is rarely worth spending a combat card slot on, particularly because Auspex already has stronger options such as Telepathic Counter for defensive strike interaction, Precognition or Enhanced Senses for range and combat control, and Eyes of Argus for broader defensive utility. Aura Reading can be reasonable as a metagame choice in an Auspex-heavy combat deck targeting combat-focused opponents, but it should usually not see
