Ambush, Action, designed by Mark Poole, Mitch Mueller first released in October 1996 in the set Sabbat and was printed exactly in 8 different ways.

Ambush mainly benefits dedicated rush/combat decks—especially ranged-combat or toolbox decks that want to punish already-locked minions, since the free optional maneuver helps the acting minion establish range—but its requirement that the target be locked and its lack of stealth make it unreliable. `Bum's Rush` is generally better because it can target an unlocked minion and is a more dependable rush effect, while `Deep Song` is better still in decks that can play it because it offers stealth and multiple useful modes in addition to entering combat. Ambush can be attractive as a zero-cost supplementary rush card, particularly in blood-tight decks or strategies that deliberately lock opposing minions, but it usually should not see play in competitive decks unless the deck has a specific way to exploit its maneuver or needs more rush actions after stronger options are exhausted.
