About Absorb the Mind

Absorb the Mind, Combat, designed by Steve Ellis first released in December 2001 in the set Bloodlines and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Absorb the Mind is most useful in a **Mytherceria combat deck**, especially one that wants versatile strikes without spending blood: at superior Mytherceria it combines ranged reach with blood gain and can steal a Master: Discipline card, while inferior Mytherceria still gains blood and Dominate provides a dodge when defense matters. Its strongest competition is **Amaranth**, which can steal the opposing vampire’s discipline cards more broadly and is generally the better choice when that theft is the main goal; for dependable ranged damage or blood theft, dedicated combat strikes are usually more effective. Absorb the Mind is worth including as a low-cost, flexible option if your vampires reliably have superior Mytherceria and you expect useful Master: Discipline targets, but it is too situational to be a staple and is unlikely to justify a slot in a deck that only has inferior Mytherceria or wants consistent damage.

Rules

10/07/2026

[MYT] cannot be used to steal a discipline that could not be played on the stealing vampire (e.g. Dominate is ineligible on a vampire that already has superior) [LSJ 20011205-2]

10/07/2026

When played, a multi-Disciplines card counts as requiring the Discipline(s) being used. In the hand, library, or ash heap, the card is considered to require any and/or all Disciplines listed on it. [LSJ 20011204-3] [PIB 20130704]

10/07/2026

Can be played against a vampire with no blood. [RTR 20010711]
