About Ex Nihilo

Ex Nihilo, Action, designed by Steve Ellis first released in June 2001 in the set Final Nights and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Ex Nihilo is a niche choice for a Necromancy deck built around getting one important action through while protecting the acting vampire from ordinary combat damage—especially at superior [NEC], where you can burn it during another Methuselah’s unlock phase before the next upkeep. It is much less attractive as a permanent stealth card: the vampire cannot gain blood, loses 1 blood each master phase, and cannot hurt opponents in combat. If your main goal is stealth-bleeding, repeatable stealth from Monastery of Shadows or action modifiers such as Lost in Crowds are generally better where your deck can use them, because they do not impose Ex Nihilo’s severe blood restriction. I would play Ex Nihilo only as a small, situational inclusion when both its stealth and damage immunity matter—not as a staple.
