About Ensconced

Ensconced, Action/reaction, designed by Marian Churchland first released in July 2018 in the set Heirs to the Blood Reprint and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Ensconced is primarily a niche inclusion for Visceratika Gargoyle, combat-control, or toolbox decks that rely on an important location—such as The Rack, Powerbase: Montreal, or Anarch Railroad—and want to punish attempts to attack it without needing to block; the +1 stealth action makes it easy to install, and the reaction both unlocks the vampire and guarantees combat after stopping the action. However, it is narrow: it protects only one location, requires the vampire to remain ready, consumes an action to play, and does nothing against actions not directed at that location. Generic intercept and wake cards such as Eyes of Argus, Enhanced Senses, Forced Awakening, or Wake with Evening’s Freshness are usually better defensive cards, while combat decks may prefer more proactive tools such as Deep Song or Immortal Grapple; there is no broadly superior card that provides exactly Ensconced’s combination of reusable location defense, unlock, action failure, and combat. It should see play on
