About Blight
Blight, Combat, designed by Javier Santos first released in October 2014 in the set The Unaligned.
Blight best fits a Necromancy-based combat or intercept-combat deck, particularly Giovanni, Harbinger, Samedi, or Nagaraja builds that already fight often and want to weaken opposing vampires before range; its superior effect is especially valuable against decks relying on additional strikes or presses, such as Potence, Celerity, or Animalism combat. However, it is usually a metagame card rather than a staple: the inferior effect is only a modest -1 strength, while the superior effect is narrow and does nothing against ordinary strike-based combat. Cards such as Immortal Grapple, Carrion Crows, Disarm, Taste of Vitae, or Theft of Vitae generally provide more reliable combat impact, depending on the deck’s discipline spread and strategy. Blight should see play only in a dedicated Necromancy combat deck facing significant multi-strike or press-heavy opposition; otherwise, its limited effect makes it an easy card to omit.
