Passion

About Passion

Passion, Action, designed by Thea Maia first released in October 1996 in the set Sabbat.

Passion is best in a Dementation bleed or toolbox deck that wants inexpensive actions to tap your prey’s key blockers, interceptors, or defensive vampires before a major bleed, vote, or combat action; its zero blood cost makes it useful as a redundancy card, and superior Dementation gives it +1 stealth, but the prey-only restriction and lack of additional effect make it fairly narrow. Mind Numb is generally the stronger alternative because it also taps a minion and prevents that minion from untapping normally during its controller’s next untap phase, although it costs 1 blood, while Seduction is often better when your immediate goal is simply making a crucial bleed or action unblockable. Passion should see play mainly in dedicated Dementation tap/bleed or toolbox builds that value multiple cheap tap actions; it is not usually strong enough for a tight competitive deck unless the metagame rewards repeatedly exhausting your prey’s defenses or you specifically need a zero-cost option.
