About Speak with Spirits

Speak with Spirits, Reaction, designed by Becky Cloonan first released in December 2001 in the set Bloodlines and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Speak with Spirits is best in **Ahrimane wall or defensive toolbox decks**, especially those built around vampires such as Howler with superior Spiritus: at [SPI], it lets a locked vampire unlock and attempt to block, with the option to spend 1 blood for +1 intercept once during that action, making it a flexible defensive card with no upfront blood cost. Its basic [spi] effect is useful general-purpose intercept, while [ani] is much narrower, so Animalism decks without Spiritus usually have better options. **Cats’ Guidance** is generally preferable in those decks because its basic Animalism intercept is not restricted to bleed actions, and its superior effect can unlock the reacting vampire after a successful block; **On the Qui Vive** is a broadly accessible alternative if you simply need a locked vampire to react, although it neither actually unlocks the vampire nor provides intercept. For decks with Auspex, **Eyes of Argus** offers a strong alternative, combining +2 intercept agains
