Soulgrinder, Combat, designed by Michele Bertilorenzi first released in October 2025 in the set Sabbat V5.

Soulgrinder best benefits Potence- or Thaumaturgy-based rush and hand-combat decks—especially builds that repeatedly force close range and want reliable damage against Fortitude-heavy opponents, since its superior version bypasses prevention cards requiring Fortitude; it is much less useful in ordinary bleed or toolbox decks that rarely enter combat. Target Vitals is generally stronger because its +2 damage cannot be prevented at all, although it is not discipline-restricted and may have a cost or once-per-round limitation, while Immortal Grapple is often more valuable in dedicated Potence combat because preventing opposing maneuvers can matter more than one extra damage strike; Soulgrinder’s main advantage is being free and usable with either discipline. It is playable as a small package—particularly in combat-heavy POT/THA decks or metagames full of Fortitude—but it is not a staple, and most competitive decks should prioritize combat-control and damage cards such as Immortal Grapple,
