Sanguinary Wind, Combat, designed by Jeremy McHugh first released in March 2007 in the set Sword of Caine.

Sanguinary Wind fits a Celerity combat deck that relies on a powerful strike connecting—especially a weapon strike or an aggravated-damage strike—against opponents likely to dodge. Its strongest use is at superior Celerity, where you can play it after strikes are chosen rather than commit the card in advance. It is narrow, though: it does nothing against strike: combat ends, damage prevention, or an opponent who was not going to dodge. For close-range hand-strike decks with Potence, **Immortal Grapple** is usually the stronger anti-defense card because it also shuts down strike: combat ends, though it cannot replace Sanguinary Wind in weapon decks. Most Celerity decks will get more consistent value from cards such as **Blur** or **Pursuit**. I would play Sanguinary Wind as a small, metagame-dependent inclusion if dodges regularly stop a crucial strike, not as a standard combat staple.
