About Purchase Pact

Purchase Pact, Master, designed by Brian LeBlanc first released in October 2000 in the set Sabbat War and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Purchase Pact is most useful in a Sabbat deck that expects to face other Sabbat vampires and wants an emergency way to end combat—especially a deck built around a ready Archbishop, Priscus, Cardinal, or Regent that can reliably meet its requirement. Its value is matchup-dependent: it does nothing against non-Sabbat opponents, occupies a master slot, and can be removed through a political action, so it is usually a metagame choice rather than a staple. There is no direct substitute that offers the same “end combat” effect specifically against Sabbat vampires; more broadly useful combat defense—such as combat-ending or damage-prevention cards appropriate to your vampires—will generally be better in an unknown or mixed metagame. Include Purchase Pact only if Sabbat opponents are common and combat is a serious problem for your deck; otherwise, it probably should not see play.
