About Potence
Potence, Master, designed by L. A. Williams, Randy Gallegos, John Bridges first released in August 1994 in the set Jyhad and was printed exactly in 12 different ways.
Potence fits a combat deck that needs to upgrade a key vampire from basic to superior Potence, or give a vampire without Potence access to basic-level combat cards; the extra capacity is a small bonus. It is less useful in a deck whose main fighters already have superior Potence, since it cannot be played on them. There is no strictly better replacement: Sanguine Instruction can provide a discipline level without using a master-phase action, but it requires setup and an action of its own. I would play Potence only if the upgrade enables specific cards your deck relies on, and then in small numbers; otherwise, vampires with the Potence levels you need from the start are usually the more reliable choice.
