About Poker
Poker, Equipment, designed by Steve Prescott first released in December 2001 in the set Bloodlines and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Poker is a niche choice for close-range combat decks that boost Strength, particularly Potence-based decks that want a free, reusable weapon and can reliably stay at close range; however, it does **not** work with Immortal Grapple, which allows only hand strikes, so it is a poor fit for the classic Potence combat package. Its aggravated damage against Kiasyd is a situational bonus rather than a reason to build around it, and its destruction clause makes it less reliable against Fortitude damage prevention. **Weighted Walking Stick is generally the better choice for occasional melee combat**: it also provides Strength+1 damage but is played during combat rather than requiring an equip action, although its limited counters mean it eventually burns. For a dedicated ranged weapon deck, **.44 Magnum is usually better**, providing a maneuver and repeatable 2 ranged damage, though it costs 2 pool and does not benefit from increased Strength. Poker’s main advantage is its potential to deliver
