About Oubliette

Oubliette, Combat, designed by Patrick Lambert first released in October 2000 in the set Sabbat War and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.

Oubliette fits an Obtenebration deck that wants to avoid combat while gradually draining opposing minions, especially if its vampires regularly reach superior [OBT]. At inferior, paying 1 blood just to end combat is a modest defensive play; at superior, the extra blood or life burn gives it a useful attrition role, even at long range. It is usually worse than Majesty or Earth Meld in decks that can play them, because their superior effects also untap your vampire, and Form of Mist is better when you need a blocked action to continue. Those cards require different disciplines, though, so they are not direct replacements in an Obtenebration-only crypt. I would play Oubliette as a small defensive package if the deck has superior [OBT] and expects combat, but not as a core card: its 1-blood cost makes repeated use expensive, and ending combat alone does not advance your game plan.
