About Loyalist
Loyalist, Reaction, designed by Christopher Shy first released in November 2003 in the set Black Hand.
Loyalist fits a Ventrue antitribu deck that can afford to keep vampires untapped or locked strategically and wants a cheap way to swing a referendum, especially a Sabbat political deck that can exploit its blood-transfer clause when its referendum fails. Its three votes are a meaningful boost for a zero-cost reaction, but the card is narrow: it only works during a referendum, requires a locked vampire, and the blood gain depends on the acting vampire being Sabbat and the referendum failing. For general vote defense, cards such as Delaying Tactics are usually more reliable because they can cancel a referendum and punish the acting vampire, while direct vote modifiers in the relevant deck may be easier to use proactively; neither is a strict replacement for Loyalist’s combination of votes and possible blood transfer. It is worth testing in a Ventrue antitribu political build that often faces Sabbat referenda, but is usually too situational for a standard reaction package.
