About Freak Drive

Freak Drive, Action modifier, designed by Daniel Gelon, Nilson, Ken Meyer, Jr. first released in August 1994 in the set Jyhad and was printed exactly in 15 different ways.

Freak Drive is most useful in decks that rely on a vampire taking several actions in the same turn—especially combat, bleed, or political decks with vampires that have Fortitude—because after a successful action it can unlock the acting vampire and let it act again; at basic Fortitude it only works after a successful action, while superior Fortitude also lets it work after a blocked action. It is a strong, efficient inclusion when your vampires have the discipline and your deck wants repeated actions, but it is not a universal action modifier: decks without Fortitude should consider alternatives such as Forced Awakening (for reacting to a block with an unlock), or simply use vampires and cards that provide built-in action capacity. In a Fortitude deck built around repeated actions, Freak Drive should generally see play; outside that plan, its discipline requirement and timing make it a poor fit.
