About Excommunication
Excommunication, Political action, designed by Richard Thomas first released in October 1996 in the set Sabbat and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
Excommunication is a narrow, meta-dependent tech card, best suited to a Sabbat political deck that can reliably call referendums and expects opponents to depend on an archbishop’s title or its title-based effects; removing the title can disrupt those plans, but the effect is modest because it neither removes the vampire nor directly harms them, and it requires a ready archbishop to be in play. In most decks, stronger political actions such as **Banishment** (to remove a troublesome vampire from the city) or **Anarchist Uprising** (to pressure multiple vampires and oust) provide more impact, while **Consanguineous Boon** or other vote-oriented actions may better advance a deck’s main plan. I would not include Excommunication by default; consider it only when your local metagame has archbishops whose titles matter and you can spare a slot for targeted disruption.
