About Concealed Weapon

Concealed Weapon, Combat, designed by Alejandro Colucci, Jeff Menges first released in August 1994 in the set Jyhad and was printed exactly in 6 different ways.

Concealed Weapon is most useful in combat decks that want to keep a weapon in hand and equip it during combat—especially decks with vampires who can make an additional strike or otherwise exploit a weapon, and decks that benefit from surprising an opponent who expected an unarmed fight. It is a niche, situational combat trick: it saves an action and avoids telegraphing the weapon, but only works before range is determined and excludes powerful weapons, so it is not a dependable way to arm a deck. If you want reliable weapon access, regular equip actions supported by cards such as** Disguised Weapon** (which can equip a weapon from hand during combat, subject to its own restrictions) or **Magic of the Smith** (for decks that can use it) are generally better; the best choice depends on the deck and the weapon. Concealed Weapon can see play as a small package in a weapon-focused combat deck where the surprise and action saved matter, but I would not include it in most combat decks by defa

Conditional damage effects (e.g. {Poker}'s aggravated damage against Kiasyd) are not considered when checking {Concealed Weapon}'s "with a regular strike" qualification. [LSJ 20020729]

10/08/2026

Cost modifications that are not limited to cards "played" are considered before checking for card cost (eg. {Black Cat} can equip with a {Combat Shotgun}, {Centralized Background Check} makes {.44 Magnum} too costly). [LSJ 20040701] [LSJ 20080125] [ANK 20181216]

The equipment or retainer must be announced by name, and in hand, when the card or effect is declared (before the card, if any, is replaced), but need not to be shown until the effect resolves. [LSJ 20100130] [ANK 20180925-2] [LSJ 19991207]

10/08/2026

A weapon's "current damage" is the amount of damage that it would inflict if used as a strike against a generic opponent. [RTR 19980623]
