About Compress

Compress, Combat, designed by Ron Spencer first released in December 2001 in the set Bloodlines and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Compress is best in a combat deck that already uses **Potence and/or Thanatosis**, especially one built around close-range hand strikes: it provides a +2-damage Potence strike or aggravated damage at either Thanatosis level, making it flexible and potentially lethal. Its main competition is **Immortal Grapple** for Potence combat, which can shut down opposing maneuvers and prevent strike combat ends, or dedicated damage cards such as **Psyche!** and **Thrown Sewer Lid** depending on the deck; for reliable aggravated damage, **Disarm** or other discipline-specific options may be stronger, but they do different jobs. Compress is worth playing when your vampires have the required disciplines and you want compact, flexible damage—particularly in a Thanatosis combat package—but it is not an automatic inclusion: without those disciplines, or in a deck that needs combat control, prevention, or presses more than raw damage, other combat cards will usually be better.
