About Imprison
Imprison, Combat, designed by Brian LeBlanc first released in April 2006 in the set Nights of Reckoning.
Imprison best fits a close-range combat deck that wants to keep an opposing monster from maneuvering away or pressing for another round while making its strikes more expensive. Its two-blood cost is steep, though, and it does not stop strikes to end combat—the escape option many combat decks most want to prevent. If your vampires have Potence, **Immortal Grapple** is generally a stronger choice for a close-range hand-strike deck because it stops strikes to end combat, although its restrictions also affect your own strikes. I would treat Imprison as a niche card rather than a staple: play it if you regularly face monsters and need this exact combination of effects, but otherwise use the slots for more reliable combat cards.

If the opponent has played an effect that grants a strike before (e.g, {Sniper Rifle}), they may choose not to strike. [LSJ 20071017]

Strikes are paid at declaration. If an ally spends their last life on a strike, combat ends before strike resolution. If the strike damage depends on the amount of life/blood of the striking minion, it is calculated after the strike is paid for (e.g. {Shambling Hordes}). [LSJ 20090703]

If an opponent then plays an effect that grants a strike (e.g, {Aid from Bats}), they pay the additional cost. [LSJ 20090529]
