Cryptic Mission fits a Thaumaturgy deck that wants to pressure vampires without entering combat, especially if it can make good use of the +1 stealth and occasionally remove a vulnerable ally or retainer. At superior Thaumaturgy, burning an opponent’s blood while gaining one from the bank is useful, but spending an action for that small swing is usually less impactful than bleeding, voting, or taking a stronger setup action. For a combat-focused Thaumaturgy deck, **Theft of Vitae** is generally a better way to drain an opposing vampire and refill your own, though it requires combat; a **Hunting Ground** is better for repeatable blood gain, though it provides no disruption. I’d play Cryptic Mission as a situational one- or two-copy card if your deck particularly values ranged blood pressure or ally removal, not as a staple.
