Flamethrower fits dedicated vampire-combat or gun decks—particularly Celerity-based decks with maneuvers and additional strikes—because its aggravated damage is difficult to prevent and can quickly send opposing vampires to torpor, but paying 4 pool for a weapon that provides only a 2R strike is a significant investment. In most decks, a cheaper gun combined with Dragon’s Breath Rounds or another aggravated-damage ammunition effect is more efficient and flexible, while weapons such as .44 Magnum generally provide better value when aggravated damage is not essential. Flamethrower can see play in a themed or highly focused aggravated-damage deck, but it is usually a marginal choice and should not be included over cheaper weapons and ammunition unless the deck specifically supports it and expects long combats.
