C.J. is mainly useful as a cheap Group 5 Gangrel crypt-filler in a low-capacity Gangrel swarm, toolbox, or rush deck that wants more four-cap vampires and does not depend on sect-specific abilities; being Independent is not, by itself, a meaningful advantage, and C.J.’s lack of a distinctive special ability makes the card fairly replaceable. Better options are usually more functional four-cap Gangrel such as **Greta Kircher**, **Rory**, or **Sela**, depending on the disciplines and strategy your crypt requires, since they provide more useful discipline access or abilities for roughly the same investment. C.J. can see play if your available crypt is constrained by Group 5 or you specifically need another inexpensive Gangrel, but in a tuned deck he is generally below the playability threshold and should usually be replaced by a more versatile vampire.
