Research would theoretically benefit combo and toolbox decks that need to assemble specific, situational cards, since it can preselect three cards for later use at no pool cost; however, based on the text provided, it only moves those cards to a research area and does not allow you to play or retrieve them, making it effectively useless unless another card or rule specifically interacts with that area. In normal VTES play, cards such as Dreams of the Sphinx, The Barrens, or other reliable draw and cycling effects are better because they immediately improve your hand and provide usable cards, while dedicated search effects are preferable when you need a particular vampire or card immediately. Therefore, Research should not see play as written, except in a deck built around explicit research-area support or under a rules clarification that makes those cards playable.
