Flash Grenade fits a defensive equipment deck that can reliably maneuver to long range: it ends a dangerous combat while keeping an opposing vampire locked through their next unlock phase. It is much less attractive at close range, where a vampire bearer suffers the same penalty. For most decks, repeatable combat-ending cards are better: **Majesty** in a Presence deck or **Earth Meld** in a Protean deck can end combat without spending an action to equip a weapon that burns after one use. I would play Flash Grenade only if the deck already supports weapons and long-range combat, and specifically wants the extra lock effect; otherwise, it is probably not worth a slot.

The "does not unlock as normal" effect is redundant with being infernal. If the minion is infernal, his controller can still pay a pool to unlock him. [LSJ 20050114]

If the opponent dodges, the "is locked and does not unlock as normal" effect do not apply, but it still burns. [RTR 20041202] [LSJ 20060808]

Still burns when used if the opponent uses a "strike: combat ends" too. It does not if combat ends before strike resolution (eg. {Rötschreck}). [LSJ 20001127-2] [LSJ 20010806-1]
