The Eternal Struggle decks that already want to use melee weapons and value free combat utility, especially decks built around VAL (Valeren) vampires that can exploit the stronger [VAL] version for a +3 damage melee weapon strike. It fits best in archetypes such as Valeren combat decks, weapon rush decks, or toolbox builds where vampires are expected to enter combat repeatedly and want additional strike options without spending blood or requiring a master action. The reflex ability to cancel a grapple is a nice bonus because it protects weapon combat from cards that shut down strikes, but it is narrow and does not make the card a staple. In most weapon decks, there are generally stronger options: Carrion Crows is usually superior for combat damage efficiency, Taste of Vitae is often more valuable for sustaining repeated fights, and actual weapon equipment such as Ivory Bow, .44 Magnum, or Sniper Rifle usually provides a more impactful long-term combat plan depending on the deck.
